Claire & David on Violins

Activities

Each year in the autumn, a weekend conference and AGM is held. The 2007 conference will be at the Nightingale Centre from 31st August – 3rd September.Booking Form The Society is looking for a venue in the South to provide an occasional alternative to the Nightingale Centre, and has decided on Ammerdown near Bath for 2008.

Historically, autumn conferences took place at Harris Manchester College and opened with an organ recital. The 2004 conference was the last such occasion.

The journal, Cantemus, is published twice a year and includes articles relevant to music in Unitarian worship, reports activities around the country and provides music supplements.

In recent years the Society has produced 2 CDs of hymns for use by congregations without musical leadership. These are still available.

The Society is willing to offer day workshops to congregations who express an interest. David Dawson led one such day for singers and instrumentalists at Horsham Unitarian Church in May 2006.

Members have been very involved in the five overseas tours of the British Unitarians in Concert. They held a reunion in March 2006 at the Nightingale Centre, and enjoyed the acoustics of the newly renovated Hall (the Charles Peach Room).
